Lincoln is yet another of England’s great cathedral cities. Perhaps this cathedral is among the top three or four. The facade and its location high on a hill with so much flat, lowland countryside around it gives it added strength. The city is delightful although you’ll need strong legs to walk up from the riverside shopping area to the cathedral and castle at the top. Lincoln has one of just a small handful of original copies of the Magna Carta signed in 1215. Twelve fifteen – that’s just in time for lunch. How very silly ! Lincoln has one of the few working windmills in the country.
