This first piece in southern Kerala let’s you chill out in the still charming little beachside resort of Kovalam, close to the southern tip of India. Stay at the luxury Leela hotel but eating almost exclusively in local cafes. Get some silk shirts made; wander through the coconut groves behind the seafront. We take a day trip down to the fascinating Cape Kumari at the southern tip of all India. This is where the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea meet. It has huge significance for Indians and the boat trip out to the islands is a delight. We go in search of the original martial art in all the world – Kalaripayattu – at an early morning gym session. Part 2 runs to more than 21 minutes.
