The people of Iceland also say that their country should have been called Greenland instead – while Greenland should be called Iceland. That’s simply because Iceland is genuinely much greener – in summertime of course. Reykjavik is a fascinating city – largely heated by geothermal power from underground – but with some interesting modern architecture. Be sure to visit the Blue Lagoon to swim and wallow in hot water at any time of year. But you should also get out in the huge, very gentle Icelandic countryside.
