Cragside is a wonderful Victorian house in an idyllic woodland location near Rothbury in Northumberland. It was the home of Sir William Armstrong the industrialist who build battleships on the Tyne for the world’s navies. The gardens are beautiful and varied from woodland to formal gardens and a fernery. Sir William and his wife were keen plant collectors from their exotic trips around the world. Powerful people from around the world came here to enjoy great comfort and hospitality.
