CHELTENHAM – Gustav Holst

Cheltenham is one of England’s most elegant towns. It lags a bit behind Bath but not far. There are sweeping curves of Regency housing, well-tended public gardens and parks and spa water to take. The town comes alive each spring for the steeplechase Cheltenham Festival… indeed the town specialises in festivals with Literature and Music too. It’s also a major centre for education with the marvellous Cheltenham College far outshining the Ladies College or Dean Close school. Well an Old Cheltonian would say that wouldn’t he ! With lots of classy hotels this is a great base for getting up into the Costwolds, across the Severn Valley to the Malverns and up into Worcestershire around Broadway and Evesham…
