This is a two-part guide taking the upscale Belle Epoque canal barge operated by European Waterways ( a British tour operator trading from www.gobarging.com ) for six days through rural Burgundy. It is a joy of a trip with extremely impressive food, wine and crew on board and visiting fascinating plays from day to day. Including the village of Flavigny where the Juliette Binoche / Johnny Depp film “Chocolat” was filmed … to the world heritage site of Fontenay Abbey… for a fine restaurant lunch in Chablis and the ancient site of the battlefield of Alesia where Julius Ceasar finally defeated the Gauls. All in all an excellent break. the two parts run to 29 and 30 minutes.
