BARBADOS

Barbados is obviously both a destination in its own right – a brilliant one – or it can be a cruise port where people just spend a few hours as they drift gently around the Caribbean. Either way it’s a marvellous place with a perpetually hot but not too hot climate. There is so much history – George Washington was here as was Admiral Horatio Nelson – and the military base where they visited is still there as Barbados’s racecourse – called the Garrison Savannah. It’s gentle topography too – Barbados is a vast mound of coral rather than a mountainous place like St Lucia or Jamaica.
