Alba Granados, Barcelona, Spain

A comparative rarity still in Spain – woman chef Carlota Claver adds clear creativity to one of the most pleasant, interesting restaurants in the city. The key is quality raw materials and flair – and you can see it all happening through the gigantic plate glass window to the kitchen. Be extremely cautious of the monster gin and tonics poured as an aperitif. It meant we remembered very little afterwards of what certainly seemed an excellent dinner. A fine Spanish-first wine list.
